Installation Notes

Open the tailgate fully and secure with a prop rod or assistant.
Locate the gas strut attachment points at the base of the tailgate frame and upper body panel.
Using a 10mm or 13mm socket, remove the lower ball-joint bolt from each old strut.
Support the tailgate weight and remove the upper attachment bolts.
Carefully slide the old struts out. Note the orientation for installation.
Insert the new gas struts in the same orientation (piston rod facing downward).
Reinstall upper bolts first, hand-tighten to avoid cross-threading.
Attach lower ball-joints and torque all fasteners securely (15–20 Nm recommended).
Test the tailgate—it should open smoothly and stay in the propped position.
Close gently and verify the mechanism locks properly.
