Installation Notes

Drain coolant safely. Allow engine to cool, then open the radiator bleed screw (typically located on the radiator top or thermostat housing). Capture coolant in a waste container.

Locate thermostat housing. On 2.2L TDV6 platforms, the thermostat housing is mounted on top of the engine block near the front. Remove the upper radiator hose clamp first if necessary for access.

Disconnect old bypass hose. Release both hose clamps (typically 8–10 mm breaker bar or socket wrench). Note clamp positions for reinstallation. Disconnect the hose from the thermostat inlet and water pump outlet.

Install new bypass hose. Route the new hose carefully to avoid sharp edges. Ensure it clears the alternator, power steering pump, and engine accessories. Tighten clamps evenly—do not over-tighten, as this can damage the hose spigots.

Refill coolant. Open the radiator cap and pour fresh 50/50 coolant mix slowly. Bleed trapped air by opening the bleed screw until coolant flows without air bubbles. Close bleed screw, then the radiator cap.

Test and inspect. Start the engine and allow it to idle for 2–3 minutes. Check for leaks around both clamps. Monitor coolant temperature gauge on the instrument cluster—should stabilise at normal running temperature (around 90°C) within 5 minutes.
⚠ Warning: Always allow the engine to cool completely before draining coolant. Never run the engine without coolant or with the radiator cap off. Do not reuse old hose clamps if they show corrosion or reduced spring tension. Replace with new stainless-steel clamps if needed.
