Installation Notes

Engine Cool-Down: Allow engine to cool fully. Never work on a hot cooling system—risk of scalding coolant spray and engine damage.

Drain Coolant: Locate the lower radiator hose or drain plug. Drain coolant into a clean container. Dispose of old coolant responsibly; it is toxic.

Remove Old Housing: Unbolt the old thermostat housing from the engine block (typically 2–4 bolts). Carefully peel away the gasket and inspect the mounting surface for debris or corrosion.

Install New Housing: Clean mounting surface lightly. Position the new housing with gasket; hand-tighten bolts first, then torque to 25–30 Nm in a star pattern. Do not over-torque polypropylene.

Refill Coolant: Use OEM-spec coolant (typically pink/red Jaguar Land Rover blend). Fill to the cold-fill mark on the expansion tank. Never mix coolant types.

Bleed Air: Start the engine and allow it to warm. Open any bleed screws on the radiator or thermostat housing to purge trapped air. Top up as needed.

Test & Monitor: Check temperature gauge behavior over 15 minutes of running. The needle should climb smoothly and stabilise near centre. Listen for abnormal coolant sounds.
⚠️ Critical: Never remove the expansion tank cap while the engine is warm or running. Allow 30 minutes of cool-down time before any work. If coolant leaks during refill, check bolt torque and gasket seating—do not ignore drips.
