Installation Notes

Requires basic mechanical skill, torque wrench, and coolant. Plan 2–3 hours.
- Drain engine oil and coolant into suitable containers; dispose responsibly.
- Remove undertray fasteners and lower plastic guards for access.
- Disconnect hoses from the existing cooler using a hose clamp tool to prevent spillage.
- Remove mounting bolts (typically 3–4 × M8 or M10) and lift the old cooler clear.
- Clean the mounting surface and hose ports thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- Install new O-ring gaskets onto the cooler ports – apply a light coat of fresh engine oil to aid sealing.
- Position the new cooler on the mounting bracket; hand-tighten bolts first, then torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lb).
- Reconnect hoses; use hose clamps rated for coolant circuits (typically 80–100 mm diameter).
- Refill coolant to the expansion tank mark; run the engine at idle for 3–5 minutes to bleed air.
- Top up oil to the dipstick MAX mark and allow the engine to cool naturally (20 minutes).
- Reinstate undertray fasteners and check for any leaks around hose connections.
Important: Always use fresh OEM coolant (typically Pentosin or Castrol) to maintain corrosion inhibition. Never force hoses—modern diesel coolers are pressure-sensitive. If you lack experience, professional installation is recommended.
