Installation Guide
Radiator Expansion Tank Replacement
-
Prepare: Allow engine to cool completely. Locate expansion tank on front right of engine bay.
-
Drain: Place container under tank. Remove drain plug or disconnect hose carefully to empty coolant into clean container. Reuse if clean.
-
Disconnect: Unplug sensor connector (two-pin plug). Loosen clamp and disconnect upper/lower hoses.
-
Remove bolts: Unbolt tank from bracket (typically 2–3 fasteners). Lift away old tank.
-
Install new: Position new tank in bracket. Reconnect sensor plug (orientation marked). Reattach hoses—ensure clamps are tight.
-
Refill: Pour original coolant back into tank. Top up if needed with 50/50 coolant-water mix (OEM spec: Longlife Green for Range Rover).
-
Bleed: Run engine at idle for 2–3 minutes with cap off. Top up once more. Check for leaks.
-
Test: Confirm low-coolant warning light extinguishes on dash. Monitor temperature gauge for normal range.
⚠️ Important: Never open expansion tank when engine is hot. Pressurised coolant can cause burns. Always allow engine to cool for at least 30 minutes after shutdown. If replacing the tank, inspect hoses for cracks or splits; replace if worn.
