- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.
- Raise the vehicle safely on jack stands and remove the underside skid plate if fitted.
- Drain the transmission fluid into a clean container and remove the transmission pan (or access plate on some models).
- Remove the clutch pressure plate assembly (manual gearbox) or torque converter bolts (automatic transmission) to access the crankshaft rear.

- Gently tap the new seal into place using a seal installation tool or a socket slightly larger than the seal outer diameter. Drive it flush to the engine block.
- Reinstall the clutch or torque converter assembly with fresh fasteners, torqued to OEM specification.
- Replace the transmission pan gasket, refill with OEM-spec fluid, and recheck the level after initial startup.
- Allow 10 minutes of idle running before driving. Monitor for leaks over the first 50 km.
