Installation Notes

Remove cylinder head. Drain coolant, remove intake & exhaust manifolds, unbolt head from block, and lift clear.

Inspect valve guides. Check guides for wear or scoring. If damaged, have professionally reamed or replace before installing new seals.

Remove old seals. Use a seal removal tool or gentle pliers to extract the worn seals without damaging the guide bores.

Clean valve guide openings. Wipe all carbon and debris from the bore with a dry, lint-free cloth. Seals must sit in a clean recess.

Install new seals. Press each seal squarely onto the valve guide using a seal driver tool (matching the guide diameter). Do not hammer or over-force—seals should slide on smoothly and seat with hand pressure.

Verify seating. Confirm all 24 seals are fully seated and sit flush with the guide boss. Any proud or recessed seal can cause oil bypass.

Reassemble cylinder head. Torque head bolts to OE spec (typically 65–75 Nm in sequence), reinstall manifolds, refill coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system.

Test drive and monitor. Check for blue smoke at idle or under load for the first 50 miles. A small amount of white vapor is normal; persistent blue indicates a seal issue.
