Installation Notes

Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 2–4 hours

  1. Disconnect negative battery terminal and allow engine to cool for 30+ minutes.
  2. Remove upper intake plenum (air intake and associated hoses) to access intake manifold.
  3. Unbolt intake manifold from engine block — note bolt torque sequence and angles.
  4. Scrape old gasket material cleanly from manifold and engine block surfaces using a plastic scraper.
  5. Clean surfaces with degreaser and allow to dry completely.
  6. Position new gaskets on engine block studs (left and right sides).
  7. Refit intake manifold and hand-tighten bolts in a cross-pattern.
  8. Torque bolts in sequence to 23–25 Nm (17–18 lb-ft) — refer to service manual for your specific engine code.
  9. Reattach all coolant hoses, vacuum lines, and intake ducting.
  10. Reconnect battery terminal. Start engine and check for leaks idling at 2,000 rpm for 5 minutes.
