Installation Notes

  1. Open your Defender's tailgate fully and support it securely with a jack or wooden prop to prevent binding.
  2. Remove the existing hinge bolts using an appropriately-sized socket wrench. Keep all fasteners in a labeled container.
  3. Carefully withdraw the old hinge from the door frame. Note the orientation and position for reference.
  4. Clean the hinge mounting area of rust, dirt, or debris using a wire brush or fine steel wool.
  5. Position the new aluminum hinge aligned with the factory mounting points on both the door and body frame.
  6. Insert new bolts through the hinge and into the body, then through the door bracket. Hand-tighten first to ensure proper alignment.
