Installation Guide

Disconnect battery negative terminal. Wait 10 minutes for residual electrical discharge.

Remove engine plastic cover if present. Locate the serpentine belt routing diagram (on radiator shroud or inner wing).

Release belt tension using the tensioner adjustment bolt. Rotate counterclockwise until belt slack permits removal.

Remove old belt by unthreading it from all pulleys. Do not force—work systematically.

Inspect all pulleys and tensioner housing for cracks, corrosion, or bearing play. Replace if damaged.

Install new idler pulleys (×2) if your old units show scoring or wobble. Use thread-lock compound on bolts.

Install new tensioner (LR079293). Align hydraulic piston rod. Hand-tighten, then torque to spec (typically 45 Nm).

Route new belt (LR071038) following the diagram. Ensure belt sits fully in all pulley grooves. No twisting.

Adjust tensioner until belt deflection at mid-span is 10–15 mm under thumb pressure. Lock tensioner bolt.

Reconnect battery. Start engine and listen for squealing. Run at idle for 2 minutes. Belt should bed-in silently within 50 miles.
