- Disconnect the vehicle battery and allow the headlight assembly to fully discharge before beginning work.
- Remove the Defender headlight unit from the vehicle by releasing the mounting hardware and disconnecting the wiring loom connectors.
- Open the headlight assembly carefully — use a heat gun on a low setting around the lens seal if the unit has not been previously opened.
- Locate the existing DRL board within the assembly and disconnect the board connector.
- Remove the faulty or damaged DRL board, taking note of the mounting orientation.
- Fit the new CML-G5M3 DRL board in the same orientation, securing it to the mounting points and reconnecting the board connector fully until it clicks.
- Reseal the headlight assembly, refit to the vehicle, and reconnect the wiring loom and battery.
