5.0L Supercharged V8 Coolant Water Heater Pipe

OEM-spec engine block to heater inlet tube with integrated temperature sensor for Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Jaguar F-Pace – ensures reliable coolant flow and precise thermal management.

L405 / L494 / L538 2013–2022 5.0L S/C V8 Direct OEM Replacement Sensor Integrated

Overview

The cooling system on your Range Rover L405, Range Rover Sport L494, and Jaguar F-Pace 5.0L Supercharged V8 demands precision engineering. This coolant water heater pipe connects the engine block directly to the heater inlet, carrying coolant at operating temperature whilst housing the integrated temperature sensor that communicates thermal data to your vehicle's ECU. Any deterioration, crack, or sensor failure compromises both cabin heating performance and engine thermal stability.

This is an OEM-specification replacement tube manufactured to Partsmost quality standards. It replicates the exact internal geometry, wall thickness, and sensor calibration of Land Rover and Jaguar original parts—ensuring seamless integration with your existing cooling circuit and sensor harness.

Whether you're addressing a known coolant leak, replacing a failed temperature sensor, or performing preventative maintenance on a high-mileage engine, this tube restores full heating system function and protective thermal monitoring without compromise.

Installation Notes

Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45–90 minutes

This job requires basic mechanical skill, coolant drain capability, and attention to connector orientation. A jack, hose clamp tool, and new coolant are recommended.

  1. Drain coolant: Lower the vehicle and allow the cooling system to fully cool. Open the radiator bleed screw and drain system into a clean container. Recycle responsibly.
  2. Disconnect sensor harness: Locate the temperature sensor connector on the original pipe (typically under the intake manifold or cylinder head cover). Gently unclip and set aside.
  3. Remove clamps and hoses: Unbolt the mounting bracket (usually 2–3 fasteners). Carefully disconnect inlet and outlet hoses using a hose clamp tool to minimise spillage.
  4. Lift old pipe assembly: Note the orientation and connection points. Remove the old tube by gently rocking and twisting to break any corrosion or sealant bond.
  5. Inspect connection surfaces: Wipe clean the engine block threads and heater inlet ports. Check for any debris or old sealant; use a small wire brush if needed.
  6. Position new pipe: Align the new heater pipe into position, ensuring sensor connector faces the correct direction for harness reach. Do not force.
  7. Re-install mounting bracket: Bolt the pipe assembly back in place using original fastener torque specs (typically 20–25 Nm for cylinder head connections).
  8. Connect hoses: Slide coolant inlet and outlet hoses onto the new barbed fittings. Secure with new hose clamps and tighten firmly but not to the point of crushing the hose.
  9. Plug sensor harness: Connect the temperature sensor connector firmly until you hear or feel the retention clip engage. Verify no pins are bent or misaligned.
  10. Refill cooling system: Pour fresh OEM-spec coolant (typically Jaguar/Land Rover Genuine or equivalent) into the radiator until full. Open bleed screws if present to release trapped air. Run engine to operating temperature and top up as needed.
  11. Test and inspect: Allow engine to cool fully. Check all connection points and hose clamps for weeping. Test heating output and monitor engine temperature gauge for 15–20 minutes of highway driving.
⚠️ Important: Always allow the engine to cool fully before working on the cooling system. Pressurised hot coolant can cause severe burns. Use only OEM-spec coolant (do not mix types). Bleed the system thoroughly to prevent air locks, which can cause overheating and thermostat failure.
