Installation

Open the hood fully and support it with a prop or helper's hand. Do not work underneath an unsupported hood.

Locate the hood strut attachment points at both the hood and the body—typically two bolts per strut at the upper hinge area.

Unbolt the old strut from the hood side first, then the body side. Set aside carefully (old struts may still be pressurized).

Position the new strut so the threaded end faces the body mounting point. Align bolt holes on both ends.

Install the first bolt at the body, then the second at the hood. Use hand-tight pressure, then a ¼ turn with a wrench to avoid over-tightening.

Test the hood operation: open and close several times. The hood should rise smoothly and hold position without drifting.

Repeat on the opposite side for consistency.

Final check: ensure both struts support the hood equally and it closes without jamming.
Safety Note: Pressurized gas struts can be dangerous if removed improperly. Never attempt to disassemble or puncture an old strut. Wear eye protection during installation. If either strut shows signs of oil weeping or damage, do not reuse it.
