2.0L Turbo Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing – Mercedes CLA250 & GLA250

Direct-fit OEM-specification thermostat housing with integrated thermostatic valve. Restores proper engine coolant flow and operating temperature control for reliable performance.

C117 / W117 X156 2013–2016 Thermostat Housing OEM Specification Includes Seals

Overview

The Mercedes-Benz CLA250 and GLA250 both rely on a precision thermostat housing to regulate engine coolant temperature across the 2.0L turbocharged M270 engine. Over time, thermostats degrade or stick, causing temperature fluctuations, poor heating, or potential overheating—all of which compromise efficiency and longevity.

This direct-replacement thermostat housing assembly meets original equipment specifications and carries the same thermal calibration as factory units. It includes all OEM-grade seals and gaskets to eliminate coolant leaks and ensure a perfect fit into your engine's cooling circuit.

Whether your original unit has failed or you're performing preventative maintenance, this housing restores accurate temperature control and maintains the precise operating window your engine was designed for. Compatible across multiple model years and engine variants—verify your part number before ordering.

⚠️ Before ordering: Verify your current thermostat housing part number against one of these OEM numbers: A2702002200 · A2702000415 · A2702000615 · A 270 200 06 15 · MAHLE TM7997 · 21M06. Confirm fitment with your vehicle's VIN if uncertain.

Installation Guide

⏱️ Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45–60 minutes

  1. Preparation: Allow engine to cool completely. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
  2. Drain coolant: Open the drain plug on the radiator or engine block. Catch fluid in a suitable container for reuse or recycling.
  3. Remove hoses: Unbolt and gently disconnect all coolant hoses from the old thermostat housing.
  4. Unbolt housing: Remove mounting bolts securing the housing to the engine block. Note bolt locations for reassembly.
  5. Clean mating surface: Use a gasket scraper to remove old gasket material. Wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.
  6. Install new seals: Apply new gaskets to the mating surface. Do not reuse old seals.
  7. Position housing: Align the new thermostat housing and install mounting bolts. Tighten to factory torque specification (typically 20–25 Nm for Mercedes).
  8. Reconnect hoses: Reattach all coolant hoses in their original positions. Ensure clamps are tight.
  9. Fill coolant: Pour fresh coolant mixture through the radiator filler neck until level is reached. Burp the cooling system to remove air pockets.
  10. Inspect and test: Start the engine and monitor temperature gauge. Check for leaks around the new housing. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature.
  11. Final check: Once cooled, verify coolant level again and top up if needed. Reconnect battery terminal.
⚠️ Do not operate the engine without coolant. Use only Mercedes-approved coolant or equivalent G11/G12 specification. Running without proper coolant will cause rapid overheating and severe engine damage.

Ready to Restore Cooling System Performance?

A faulty thermostat housing leads to temperature swings, reduced fuel efficiency, and premature engine wear. This OEM-spec replacement restores precise thermal control and protects your Mercedes investment for years to come.
