Overview
Your Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport, and newer Range Rover depend on precise timing chain tension to maintain valve synchronisation and engine longevity. A worn or failing tensioner compromises compression timing, reduces fuel efficiency, and can lead to catastrophic internal engine damage if left unaddressed.
This OEM-specification timing chain tensioner is engineered to original Land Rover tolerances for the 3.0L V6 and 5.0L V8 petrol engines found across the 2010–2018 Discovery, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport lineup. It maintains constant hydraulic pressure on the timing chain, preventing slack and ensuring valve-to-piston clearance under all operating conditions.
We supply this component as a replacement unit ready for immediate installation. It arrives with a 12-month warranty, backed by our 30-day money-back guarantee and worldwide support via our UK team. Use discount code 22GET20 for 20% off when purchasing any two Victorious components.

Installation Notes
Difficulty Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Timing component work requires engine bay access, fastener torque specifications, and basic mechanical knowledge. Professional installation is recommended if you are not confident with engine work.
Estimated Time: 2–4 hours
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.
- Remove auxiliary pulleys, serpentine belt, and timing cover as needed for your engine variant.
- Locate the existing tensioner on the front face of the engine block.
- Unbolt the old tensioner and carefully remove it; note the torque specification stamped on the housing.
- Install the new OEM tensioner, aligning all mounting holes and ensuring proper seating.
- Torque fasteners to OEM specification (typically 45–55 Nm for Discovery/Range Rover applications).
- Reinstall the timing cover, pulleys, and serpentine belt in reverse order.
- Reconnect the battery and start the engine; listen for any unusual chain rattle or timing noise.
- Allow the engine to idle for 2–3 minutes while hydraulic pressure self-regulates in the new tensioner.
- Take a test drive and confirm smooth, quiet operation.
Important: Do not reuse the old tensioner or attempt to "reset" a worn unit. Timing chain tension cannot be manually adjusted. If the engine rattles or produces a metallic knocking sound after installation, stop the engine immediately and contact a qualified technician—failure to address this may result in severe internal engine damage.
