Installation Notes
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Time: 1–2 hours (both sides)
- Lift and secure the vehicle on ramps or jack stands. Remove the front wheels.
- Locate the outer tie rod end on the front axle assembly (steering knuckle side).
- Remove the castle nut securing the tapered stud to the steering arm.
- Using a tie rod separator tool, carefully extract the old tie rod end from the steering arm.
- Unscrew the old unit from the inner tie rod (use a spanner to grip the hex body).
- Thread the new tie rod end onto the inner rod, matching the old unit's thread depth.
- Insert the tapered stud into the steering arm and secure with a new castle nut (torque to 35–45 Nm).
- Install a new cotter pin through the castle nut.
- Repeat on the opposite side (right tie rod end).
- Reinstall wheels and lower the vehicle. Torque wheel nuts to specification.
- Have your front-end alignment checked and adjusted to Land Rover factory specs.
⚠️ Important: Do not reuse old castle nuts or cotter pins. Always replace with new fasteners. After installation, have your wheel alignment verified by a qualified technician to ensure safe steering geometry and even tyre wear.
