Installation Notes
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Time: 30–45 minutes
- Drain coolant from the radiator petcock (or catch tank) into a clean container.
- Locate the thermostat housing at the front of the engine block (consult your service manual for exact position by model).
- Disconnect the 2-pin connector from the old housing. Note its orientation.
- Remove bolts securing the housing to the block; carefully lift away.
- Clean the mating surface on the engine block with a lint-free cloth. Inspect for corrosion or debris.
- Apply a thin bead of gasket maker (optional; O-ring is typically sufficient) and position the new assembly.
- Torque housing bolts to spec (typically 7–10 Nm; consult your model service manual).
- Reconnect the 2-pin harness, ensuring the connector seats firmly.
- Refill coolant to the top of the expansion tank or catch bottle.
- Start the engine and watch for leaks around the housing for 2–3 minutes. Top up if needed.
- Run at operating temperature (fans cycling) and recheck coolant level.
