Radiator Expansion Tank with Cap 140kPa – LR3, LR4 & Range Rover Sport

OEM-spec coolant overflow container with integrated sensor and pressure cap. Direct factory replacement—proven cooling stability across petrol and diesel engines.

LR3 | LR4 Range Rover Sport 2005–2013 Cooling System Direct Fit 140kPa Cap

Why This Tank Matters

Your Land Rover's cooling system works at precision. Even a failing expansion tank—cracked, leaking, or losing pressure—can cascade into overheating, head gasket failure, and catastrophic engine damage. This replacement tank restores OEM integrity and sensor function, maintaining proper coolant circulation and thermal management across all engine variants: 2.7L, 3.0L, 4.0L, 4.4L, and 5.0L petrol and diesel units.

Partsmost manufacture holds direct Land Rover supply-chain credentials. This tank is pressure-tested to 140kPa, fitted with the correct sensor housing, and supplied with the factory-spec lid (LR017427) to ensure instant diagnostic readiness and sealed integrity from installation.

Whether you're preventatively replacing an aging tank or responding to coolant loss, this direct-fit assembly eliminates guesswork and guarantees alignment with your vehicle's thermal system design.

Installation Notes

Difficulty Level: Moderate | Time: 45–90 minutes

  1. Prepare: Allow engine to cool completely. Place a catch tray beneath the tank. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Drain: Open the radiator bleed screw and drain coolant into a clean container. Dispose responsibly or store for reuse if still serviceable.
  3. Disconnect: Unplug the coolant level sensor connector. Disconnect all hoses from the old tank (typically 2–3 quick-release fittings).
  4. Remove: Unbolt the tank from its front-mounted bracket (usually 2–3 fasteners). Lift and remove carefully—residual coolant may drip.
  5. Install New Tank: Position new tank into bracket. Align all mounting points. Secure bolts hand-tight first, then torque to manufacturer spec (typically 10–15 Nm).
  6. Reconnect Hoses: Attach all coolant lines to their original ports. Ensure quick-release couplings are fully seated and secured.
  7. Sensor: Plug in the coolant level sensor connector. Listen for a click confirming engagement.
  8. Refill: Pour fresh OEM-spec coolant into the tank. Fill to the "cold" mark on the new tank's side wall.
  9. Bleed: Start the engine in a well-ventilated area. Open the radiator bleed screw until all air escapes and coolant flows steadily. Close bleed screw.
  10. Top-Up: Allow engine to idle for 3–5 minutes. Top up coolant to the correct level. Reinstall the 140kPa cap firmly.
  11. Test: Let engine cool completely. Check the new tank and all connections for leaks. Verify the low-coolant warning light no longer illuminates (unless coolant is actually low).
  12. Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative terminal. Clear any diagnostic trouble codes with a compatible scanner if necessary.
⚠ Do not remove the pressure cap while the engine is hot or running. Scalding coolant can escape under pressure. Always allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes before opening the system. Dispose of old coolant at an authorized recycling facility—it is toxic to wildlife and soil.

Ready to Restore Cooling Confidence?

A failed expansion tank leaves no room for compromise. This OEM-spec replacement brings your LR3, LR4, or Range Rover Sport back to factory cooling precision—with sensor function, pressure integrity, and thermal stability guaranteed.
