Overview
The oil cooler gasket is a critical thermal management component fitted to 3.0L TDV6, 3.0L petrol, and 5.0L V8 Land Rover and Range Rover engines. Located at the junction between the oil cooler unit and the engine block, this seal prevents oil migration and maintains pressure integrity across the cooling circuit.
Over time, factory gaskets degrade under thermal cycling and vibration, leading to seepage around the oil cooler mount. A failed seal compromises both engine protection and fuel economy, and can trigger warning lights on newer models. This OEM-spec replacement restores factory sealing performance and is essential maintenance on any high-mileage Discovery, LR4, Range Rover Sport, or Velar with the transverse-mounted cooler unit.
Partsmost supplies this gasket as a direct replacement matched to original equipment specifications. Installation is straightforward for any owner with basic mechanical skill or professional technician. Backed by a 12-month warranty and 30-day money-back guarantee from Victorious Automotive.

Installation Notes
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45–90 minutes
-
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow engine to cool completely (minimum 2 hours after last run).
-
Locate the oil cooler unit mounted transversely below the intake manifold (behind the water pump on 3.0L engines; behind the supercharger on 5.0L V8).
-
Remove the cooler inlet and outlet hoses using hose clamps and drain plug. Catch residual oil in a drip pan (approximately 1.5 litres).
-
Unbolt the cooler mounting brackets (typically 2–3 M10 bolts at 25 Nm each). Carefully slide the unit away from the engine block.
-
Remove the old gasket and clean the mounting surface on both the cooler and engine block with a soft brass brush or cloth. Ensure no debris remains in the oil passages.
-
Position the new gasket onto the engine block mounting surface, aligning the hose ports.
-
Reinstall the cooler unit and torque all mounting bolts to 25 Nm in a star pattern to ensure even clamp load.
-
Reconnect hoses and refill with fresh engine oil. Recheck oil level after a short test run.
-
Clear any fault codes (if present) using a diagnostic scan tool and verify no leaks around the cooler base.
⚠ Important: Do not reuse the old gasket. Always use a new seal to guarantee thermal and pressure integrity. If oil cooler lines appear corroded or damaged, consider flushing the entire cooling circuit before installation.
