Note: Tailgate struts are not compatible with Range Rover Sport models. Bonnet struts may fit RRS 2005–2013, but we recommend confirming part numbers before purchase.
Installation Guide
Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10–15 minutes per pair

Open the bonnet or tailgate fully and prop it securely with a wooden block or prop rod.

Locate the hinge brackets on the left and right side of the assembly. You'll see the old gas strut attached via a ball-joint pin at each end.

Remove the old strut: Using a 10 mm socket or wrench, unbolt the lower ball-joint pin from the hinge bracket. Carefully disconnect the upper pin from the lid assembly. The old strut will drop free.

Install the new strut: Align the new unit with the upper and lower pin holes. Hand-start both bolts, then fully tighten with a wrench. Apply moderate torque—do not over-tighten, as the ball joints are easily damaged.

Test the operation: Slowly release the prop rod and allow the bonnet or tailgate to rise under its own spring force. It should open and hold smoothly without sag.

Repeat for the opposite side, then test both simultaneously to confirm balanced support.
