Installation Notes
⏱️ Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15–30 minutes
-
Drain Coolant: Allow engine to cool fully. Locate coolant drain plug underneath radiator and drain into a clean pan. Dispose of coolant responsibly.
-
Locate Expansion Tank: On most models, the expansion tank sits on the driver's or passenger's side of the engine bay. Consult your owner's manual for exact position.
-
Disconnect Clips: Trace the old hose from expansion tank to radiator. Release the spring clips or push-on connectors at both ends—gently wiggle to avoid tearing the ports.
-
Remove Old Hose: Carefully pull away the old hose. If stuck, lightly apply heat with a hot air gun (do not use direct flame). Clean any debris from connection ports.
-
Install New Hose: Align the new hose with the factory ports. Push firmly until you hear or feel a positive click. Ensure clips are fully seated.
-
Refill Coolant: Slowly pour fresh coolant (Pentosin or equivalent) into expansion tank until it reaches the MIN mark. Do not overfill.
-
Bleed Air: Start engine and idle for 2–3 minutes with the heater on maximum. This purges trapped air. Top up tank as needed.
-
Check Pressure: Once cool, confirm coolant level sits between MIN and MAX. Check hose connections for any weeping. Test drive for 10 km; recheck level.
Important: Never open the expansion tank while engine is hot—steam and coolant can cause severe burns. Wait at least 30 minutes after engine shutdown before servicing. Always use OEM-approved coolant or equivalent; mixing types can degrade hose material and reduce thermal efficiency.
