Remove the serpentine belt using a 15mm wrench on the tensioner lock bolt. Rotate the tensioner anti-clockwise to relieve pressure, then carefully slide the belt off all pulleys. Mark the routing with a photo for reassembly.

Locate the tensioner mounting bolts (typically two M8 bolts on the engine block). Support the tensioner arm with one hand to prevent sudden spring release.

Remove the old tensioner by unbolting both fasteners in sequence. Lift the assembly clear and inspect the mounting surface for corrosion or damage.

Position the new tensioner onto the mounting brackets. Hand-thread both bolts to ensure correct alignment, then torque in sequence to 45 Nm (33 ft-lbs).

Reinstall the serpentine belt by routing it around the new tensioner roller first. Follow your reference photo. Rotate the tensioner anti-clockwise again to thread the final section under the crankshaft pulley.

Release the tensioner slowly—the spring will engage and apply pressure uniformly. Manually rotate the engine two full revolutions to confirm smooth operation.

Reconnect the battery and start the engine. Listen for belt noise (grinding, squealing) for 10 seconds. If silent, you're complete.
