Overview
The serpentine belt system on your 5.0L V8 Range Rover or Range Rover Sport is the circulatory backbone of your engine. It drives the alternator, power steering pump, and water pump—critical systems that demand precision engineering and flawless reliability.
This complete belt kit combines genuine OE-specification components: a reinforced primary drive belt (LR035542), precision-engineered idler pulleys (LR035544/LR086058), and a factory-matched belt tensioner (LR035546). Every piece is engineered to exact Land Rover tolerances, ensuring perfect tension, zero slip, and maximum component lifespan.
Whether you're replacing a worn belt proactively or addressing a failure, this kit delivers the robustness and longevity your V8 deserves. No compromise on accessory-driven performance.

Installation
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Time: 45–90 minutes
-
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to disable the alternator and prevent accidental rotation.
-
Remove the plastic engine cover (if fitted) and locate the tensioner on the left side of the engine bay.
-
Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise using a 15mm socket to relieve tension on the old belt.
-
Carefully slide the worn belt off all pulleys: idler, alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and crankshaft.
-
Inspect all pulleys for cracks, misalignment, or bearing damage. Replace if necessary.
-
Install the new idler pulley (LR035544) using a 13mm socket. Torque to 45 Nm.
-
Install the new tensioner (LR035546) on the bracket. Torque the pivot bolt to 32 Nm and the locking bolt to 16 Nm.
-
Route the new belt exactly as shown on the under-hood diagram (usually affixed inside the bonnet). Start at the crankshaft pulley, working outward.
-
Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise again to create slack for final routing.
-
Verify the belt sits fully in every pulley groove – no twists, no cross-routing.
-
Release the tensioner slowly and allow it to auto-tension the new belt.
-
Rotate the engine by hand 2–3 complete revolutions to ensure the belt tracks straight and tensioner action is smooth.
-
Reconnect the battery terminal and start the engine. Listen for any squealing or rubbing for the first 10 seconds.
-
Let the engine idle for 5 minutes while observing the belt for slip or vibration.
⚠ Important: Over-torquing the tensioner bolt can damage the spring mechanism. Use a calibrated torque wrench set to the exact specification: pivot 32 Nm, lock 16 Nm. Do not attempt this on an engine that is hot—wait at least 30 minutes after shutdown.
Why This Matters
A worn or slipping serpentine belt doesn't just affect one system—it cascades across your entire engine bay. A failing belt forces the alternator to undercharge (dimming headlights, weak electronics), the power steering pump to lose pressure (heavy steering feel), and the water pump to slow (rising coolant temperature). You're one roadside breakdown away from a tow bill.
This complete kit eliminates that risk in one go. You're not patching a symptom; you're replacing the entire system to factory spec. Peace of mind worth far more than the cost.
