Overview
The Land Rover Freelander 2 (LR2) L359 is the go-to compact SUV for UK and European drivers who demand reliability and genuine Land Rover capability. Whether navigating urban streets or venturing off-road, your Freelander 2's 2.0L petrol engine depends on a properly tensioned serpentine belt to drive critical ancillary systems—alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, and water pump.
This OEM-specification 6DPK2280 serpentine belt delivers the same fitment and performance as genuine Land Rover LR036456 belts, with factory engineering that ensures consistent power delivery, minimal slippage, and long service intervals. Over time, belts wear, crack, and fray—especially in high-heat engine bays or with heavy use. A worn or failing belt can strand you with a dead battery, limp steering, or a seized compressor.
We've sourced this belt to exacting tolerances, ensuring it installs with zero modification, maintains factory tension, and restores your Freelander 2's electrical and hydraulic charging performance to factory spec. At Victorious Automotive, we back every belt with a 30-day money-back guarantee and 12-month manufacturer warranty—because we know Land Rover owners deserve parts they can trust.

Installation Guide
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45–90 minutes
-
Disconnect the battery negative terminal and wait 5 minutes to discharge the electrical system.
-
Remove the engine cover (if fitted) and identify the serpentine belt routing. Consult the service guide or engine bay decal for the belt path across alternator, power steering pump, idler, and tensioner pulleys.
-
Locate the automatic belt tensioner on the lower left side of the engine bay. Using a 13mm or 15mm socket wrench, rotate the tensioner arm counterclockwise to release tension on the belt.
-
Carefully slide the worn belt off all pulleys and remove it. Inspect all pulleys for damage, glazing, or misalignment; replace any pulley showing wear or noise.
-
Route the new belt following the factory diagram, starting from the crankshaft pulley and working through each auxiliary system. Ensure the belt sits fully in all pulley grooves—no twists or skew.
-
Apply tension by releasing the tensioner arm slowly back into position. The spring-loaded automatic tensioner will seat the belt correctly.
-
Rotate the engine by hand 3–4 full rotations to verify smooth belt travel and ensure no rubbing on hoses, wires, or chassis.
-
Reconnect the battery and start the engine. Listen for any squealing or noise. A new belt may produce light friction noise for 30 seconds; this is normal and will subside after a few drive cycles.
-
Run at idle for 2 minutes, then take a short 5-minute drive to bed in the belt and verify alternator, power steering, and air conditioning function normally.
⚠ Warning: Do not over-tighten the belt; automatic tensioners are calibrated at the factory. Over-tension accelerates pulley bearing wear and can snap a new belt. If your tensioner spring feels weak or the belt remains loose, the tensioner should be replaced—contact us for sourcing.
