- Open the bonnet fully and secure it using the existing factory prop rod before you begin work.
- Locate the two OEM bonnet strut mounting points on both the bonnet frame and the engine bay body rail — one on each side.
- Clip the lower end of each hydraulic strut onto the body-side mounting ball pin. Ensure the clip locks firmly into place with an audible click.
- Carefully lower the bonnet to the half-open position, then clip the upper end of each strut onto the bonnet-side ball pin. Again, confirm a secure, clicked connection.
- Remove the factory prop rod and stow it safely in the engine bay in case it is needed in the future.
- Test the bonnet by opening and closing it several times. The struts should hold the bonnet fully open with no assistance and allow controlled, smooth lowering when closing.
⚠ Important: Always verify the struts are fully clipped and locked onto both ball pins before removing the prop rod. Do not force the bonnet closed if you feel resistance — check all connections first. If you are unsure at any stage, professional installation is recommended.
