- Open the Defender's rear tailgate fully and locate the trunk hook mounting area you wish to accent with the decorative frame.
- Thoroughly clean the target surface using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or equivalent automotive surface prep solution. Remove all dust, grease, and moisture.
- Allow the surface to dry completely — at least 2–3 minutes at room temperature — before proceeding.
- Test-fit the chrome frame without removing the adhesive backing to confirm alignment and positioning against the hook surround.
- Peel back the adhesive protective liner from the reverse of the frame, taking care not to touch the adhesive surface.
- Carefully align the frame to the hook surround and press firmly into position, applying even pressure across the entire surface for 30–60 seconds.
- Allow the adhesive to cure for a minimum of 24 hours before subjecting the area to moisture, heavy loading, or extreme temperature changes.
⚠ Important: Do not attempt installation in temperatures below 10°C (50°F) as adhesive performance may be significantly reduced in cold conditions. For best results, install indoors or in a warm garage environment.
