- Open the tailgate and locate the access panel on the interior trim lining behind each tail light assembly.
- Remove the trim panel carefully using a plastic pry tool to avoid cracking or scratching the interior finish.
- Disconnect the existing wiring harness connector from the rear of the OE tail light unit by pressing the locking tab and pulling firmly.
- Remove the retaining nuts (typically three per side) securing the tail light assembly to the bodywork. Keep these in a safe place.
- Gently pull the old tail light assembly forward and away from the body panel. Take care not to scratch the surrounding paintwork.
- Position the new tail light assembly into the aperture, ensuring the locating pins seat correctly before applying any pressure.
- Refit and hand-tighten the retaining nuts, then torque to the manufacturer's recommended setting. Do not over-tighten.
- Reconnect the wiring harness — the connector should click firmly into place. Test all lighting functions before refitting the trim panel.
- Refit the interior trim access panel and close the tailgate. Perform a final full lighting check before returning the vehicle to road use.
