Installation
Difficulty Level
Intermediate – suitable for owners with basic mechanical experience or a trusted independent mechanic.
Estimated Time
1–2 hours per axle side; 3–4 hours for both front sides.
Steps
- Safely raise vehicle on jack stands; remove wheel and brake caliper if required for access.
- Unbolt outer CV joint clamp using a 10mm or 13mm socket; slide old boot towards the center.
- Remove retaining circlip (half-moon clip) from the joint using a snap-ring tool—not included.
- Withdraw driveshaft from the hub and support with wire; rest the CV joint on a stable surface.
- Clean the joint and shaft thoroughly with a degreaser; allow to dry completely.
- Slide new boot onto shaft; apply fresh grease per Land Rover spec to the joint.
- Refit circlip, then secure boot clamps hand-tight at inner and outer ends.
- Tighten clamps with a torque wrench to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft); verify no boot twisting.
- Reinstall driveshaft, wheel, and brake components; lower vehicle and test drive.
⚠ Circlips Not Included: You'll need a snap-ring tool and possibly a new half-moon circlip. These are inexpensive but critical—do not reuse old circlips if they're bent or worn.
