Installation

Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 1.5–2 hours

Lift and secure the vehicle on axle stands at the front end. Remove the wheel.
Unbolt the tie rod end from the steering knuckle (ball joint nut). Use a ball joint separator tool to safely disconnect the taper.
Unscrew the old tie rod from the trackrod assembly. Count rotation turns to aid reinstallation geometry.
Thread the new tie rod end onto the trackrod, matching the previous thread count to preserve wheel alignment.
Insert the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle and torque the nut to 40–50 Nm (check your Haynes manual for exact spec).
Reconnect the wheel and lower the vehicle.
Visit a wheel alignment centre to re-set toe-in and camber. Steering feel depends on accurate alignment.

⚠ Important: Do not re-use the old ball joint nut if it has been removed. Always use a fresh self-locking nut. Incorrect torque or omitted alignment check will result in tyre wear and poor steering feedback.
