Installation Guide
Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 3–4 hours | Tools: Socket set, screwdriver set, gasket scraper, torque wrench, new coolant
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.
- Remove the upper intake manifold cover and associated hoses, cables, and bracket bolts (note routing for reassembly).
- Unbolt the intake manifold from the cylinder head (both left and right sides separately).
- Carefully scrape away old gasket material and clean both the manifold and cylinder head mating surfaces with a non-abrasive cloth.
- Install the new left-side gasket (LH) onto the left cylinder head studs.
- Install the new right-side gasket (RH) onto the right cylinder head studs.
- Reinstall the intake manifolds and torque bolts to OEM specification (typically 15–20 Nm, final torque in a star pattern).
- Reconnect all hoses, cables, brackets, and electrical connectors in reverse order.
- Refill coolant to the proper level and bleed any air from the cooling system.
- Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and check for leaks at the manifold seams over a 10-minute warm-up cycle.
⚠️ Important: The 5.0L Supercharged V8 runs hot. Ensure the engine is completely cold before beginning work. If you encounter stuck bolts or carbon buildup, do not force removal—apply penetrating oil and wait 15 minutes.
