Installation Notes

Disconnect battery negative terminal to prevent accidental starter engagement.

Remove engine cover and locate serpentine belt routing diagram (usually affixed to underside of hood).

Release tensioner spring using a suitable wrench to relieve belt tension; support with a block or jack if required.

Slide old belt off pulleys and inspect idler pulley for damage, wobbling, or bearing play.

Remove idler pulley bolts (typically 1–2 bolts per pulley) and lift clear. Note bolt positions.

Remove tensioner assembly bolts and carefully disconnect hydraulic or spring-loaded mechanism.

Install new tensioner first, then idler pulley, aligning all bolt holes precisely.

Route new serpentine belt carefully around all pulleys, following diagram. Ensure belt sits fully in pulley grooves—no edge run-out.

Release tensioner to auto-tension new belt. Spin engine by hand 2–3 revolutions to seat components.

Reconnect battery and start engine. Listen for abnormal noise. Check belt tension using a belt-tension gauge if available (typically 110–140 lbf for new belts).

Reinstall engine cover and test drive at idle and under light load.
⚠️ Safety: Never work on a running engine. If your tensioner is hydraulic, do not attempt to re-pressurize—replace as a unit. If belt slips after installation, check pulley alignment and re-seat belt immediately; do not drive.
