Installation Guide
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 2–4 hours

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.

Remove the front engine cover and aux belt assembly to expose the timing chain cover.

Remove the cover fasteners and carefully lift away the timing chain cover—note any gasket material for resealing.

Remove the old chain and tensioner by unbolting the tensioner body and sliding the chain free from the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.

Clean the mounting surfaces with solvent to remove residual oil and gasket material.

Install the new automatic tensioner into its bore, leaving it unbolted initially to allow free movement during chain installation.

Thread the new timing chain onto both the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, ensuring alignment marks line up (typically marked with white or yellow paint).

Torque the tensioner bolts to 25–30 Nm (18–22 ft-lbs) once the chain is seated and properly tensioned.

Reinstall the timing cover with a new gasket, torque fasteners to 10–15 Nm (7–11 ft-lbs).

Reattach the aux belt, cover, and battery terminal. Start the engine and listen for any chain rattle; it should be silent within 2–3 seconds of startup.
⚠ Critical: Timing marks must align exactly. Misalignment causes misfiring, rough idle, and potential valve collision. If uncertain, consult a professional technician or factory service manual for your specific model year.
