Installation
Difficulty: Beginner-Intermediate | Time: 1.5–2 hours
- Raise vehicle on axle stands and support securely on both sides
- Remove wheel and brake caliper (hand brake line stays connected)
- Locate shock absorber upper mounting turret inside wheel arch
- Support lower control arm with trolley jack to relieve spring tension
- Remove upper shock mounting bolt (17mm socket)
- Lower vehicle slightly and extract old insulator (may be seized – spray with penetrant)
- Clean shock turret and spring seat surfaces with wire brush
- Slide new insulator onto shock shaft (ensure correct orientation – flat face down)
- Reinstall upper mounting bolt and torque to 21 Nm (15 ft-lb)
- Repeat on opposite side if replacing both fronts
- Lower vehicle, fit wheel, and road-test for noise changes
⚠ Important: Do not reuse original insulator. Metal-to-rubber bond failure cannot be reversed. Always replace as a pair for symmetrical ride dynamics, even if only one side is noisy.
