Overview
This thermostatic housing is engineered for Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class (C117/W117) and GLA-Class (X156) models equipped with the M270 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The thermostat housing is a critical component in the engine cooling circuit, regulating coolant flow to maintain optimal operating temperature under all driving conditions.
Over time, thermostatic housings can develop minor leaks or fail to regulate temperature correctly, leading to coolant loss, overheating, or inefficient heating. This direct-replacement unit restores the integrity of your cooling system with OE-quality construction and includes new seals for a leak-free installation.
Partsmost supplies this housing with the same precision tolerances and material specifications as the original MAHLE component, ensuring perfect fitment and long-term durability. Backed by a 12-month warranty and shipped worldwide with full tracking support.

Installation Notes
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Estimated Time: 1–2 hours | Tools: Standard socket set, coolant catch pan, torque wrench
-
Drain coolant system. Remove the radiator cap and allow the engine to cool completely. Open the drain plug at the radiator base and drain into a catch pan. Dispose of coolant responsibly.
-
Disconnect hoses. Unbolt the inlet and outlet coolant hoses from the existing thermostat housing. Use a clamp tool or mark hose positions for reassembly.
-
Remove old housing. Unbolt the housing from the engine block using the appropriate socket. Clean the mounting surface with a soft cloth to remove debris and old gasket material.
-
Install new housing. Position the new housing with included seals over the mounting location. Install bolts hand-tight first, then torque to OE specification (typically 8–10 Nm for this application).
-
Reconnect coolant lines. Attach the inlet and outlet hoses in their original positions. Ensure hose clamps are tight and secure.
-
Fill and bleed. Refill the cooling system with the correct coolant type (typically MB 325.5 or equivalent G12++ for Mercedes). Start the engine, allow it to reach operating temperature, and top up as needed to remove air pockets.
-
Pressure test. Once the engine is fully warmed, run a cooling system pressure test (optional but recommended) to confirm the housing is sealing correctly.
⚠ Important: Never open the cooling system while the engine is hot. Pressurized coolant can cause severe burns. Always use the correct coolant type for your Mercedes model. Improper coolant can cause corrosion and seal degradation. If you are not confident with this procedure, consult a qualified Mercedes service technician.
