Installation Notes

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool fully (at least 30 mins post-driving).

Remove the valve cover by unbolting the fasteners around its perimeter. Note their positions—they vary in length.

Scrape away old gasket material with a soft gasket scraper or plastic tool. Do not gouge the aluminum cover or cylinder head surface.

Clean both sealing surfaces with lint-free cloth and a small amount of engine degreaser. Ensure surfaces are completely dry.

Lay the new gasket onto the clean cylinder head surface, aligning any locating pins or keys.

Fit the valve cover and hand-tighten all fasteners first, then torque in a star pattern: 4–6 Nm (3–4 lb-ft) for aluminum fasteners.

Reattach the negative terminal, start the engine, and listen for any new vacuum leaks. Check for oil weep around the gasket after a 5-minute idle.
