Installation

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.
- Remove the timing cover, crankshaft pulley, and associated accessories according to your vehicle's service manual.
- Verify crankshaft and camshaft timing marks are correctly aligned before removal.
- Remove the old timing chain and tensioner assembly using the correct tools (e.g., chain breaker tool for the old chain).
- Inspect the timing gears and sprockets for wear; replace if necessary.
- Install the new tensioner assembly first, ensuring the spring is correctly seated.
- Thread the new timing chain onto both the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, maintaining alignment.
- Install the tensioner bolts and torque to factory spec (typically 20–25 Nm for Land Rover/Jaguar applications).
- Verify chain tension by gently rotating the crankshaft by hand; the chain should move freely with minimal slack.
- Rotate the engine twice through its full cycle to settle the tensioner, then recheck tension.
- Reinstall the timing cover, crankshaft pulley, and all removed components in reverse order.
- Reconnect the battery terminal, start the engine, and listen for any abnormal noise.
