- Ensure the vehicle is parked, ignition off, and the gear selector is in Park (P). Allow the centre console to reach room temperature if the vehicle has been parked in cold conditions.
- Thoroughly clean the factory gear shift surround with an isopropyl alcohol wipe. Remove all dust, oils, and residue. Allow the surface to dry completely before proceeding — this is the single most important step for long-term adhesion.
- Dry-fit the chrome trim piece over the surround without removing the adhesive backing. Confirm alignment and check that all edges sit flush against the factory plastic.
- Peel the protective film from the adhesive backing. Starting from one end, carefully position the trim piece and press it firmly into place using the heel of your palm. Work from the centre outward to prevent air pockets.
- Apply firm, sustained pressure across the entire trim surface for 30–60 seconds. Pay particular attention to the corners and edges.
- Allow the adhesive to cure undisturbed for a minimum of 1 hour before normal use. Full bond strength is achieved after 24 hours.
⚠ Note: Do not apply in temperatures below 10°C (50°F) as this reduces adhesive performance. Avoid cleaning the trim with solvent-based products after installation — a damp microfibre cloth is sufficient for ongoing maintenance.
