Installation

This job requires dropping the transmission or removing the engine. We recommend professional installation by a Land Rover / Jaguar specialist.
- Disconnect battery and drain oil.
- Remove transmission (manual or automatic) and flywheel/flexplate.
- Inspect crankshaft rear seal journal for score marks; light machine work may be needed if damaged.
- Clean journal thoroughly with lint-free cloth and approved degreaser.
- Apply thin coat of clean oil to new seal's inner rubber contact surface.
- Align new seal squarely on crankshaft using seal installer tool (optional but recommended).
- Gently seat seal flush against engine block; ensure no twisting during installation.
- Reinstall flywheel, transmission, and refill with fresh engine oil.
- Start engine, check for weeps around seal area.
