- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the engine off. Allow the vehicle to cool if recently driven.
- Locate the existing side vent grilles on both front wings of your Defender. These are held in place by a series of clips and, on some variants, small fasteners behind the wing liner.
- Using a trim removal tool or plastic pry lever, carefully release the clips along the perimeter of the factory vent. Work methodically around the edge to avoid stressing or cracking the surrounding trim panels.
- Once the original vent is free, clean the recess area with an isopropyl alcohol wipe to remove any dirt or residue from behind the panel.
- Align the new gloss black side vent into the mounting recess, ensuring all clip positions line up correctly before applying pressure.
- Press firmly and evenly around the perimeter until all clips are fully seated and the vent sits flush with the wing surface.
- Repeat the process for the opposite side. Step back and inspect both vents for alignment and panel gap consistency.
