Overview
The Land Rover Freelander LR2 and compatible Volvo models with 3.2L petrol engines rely on the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system to manage internal engine pressure and emissions. The valve cover housing and PCV valve assembly are critical components that, when worn or degraded, lead to rough idling, increased blow-by pressure, and accelerated engine wear.
This premium PCV valve service kit includes everything needed to refresh your valve cover crankcase ventilation system. Engineered to OE specifications and direct-fit to Land Rover and Volvo applications, each kit contains precision-matched components that restore factory breathing performance without modification or additional tuning.
Whether you're addressing a faulty PCV valve, cleaning carbon buildup, or performing preventative maintenance, this service kit delivers the reliability and durability that Freelander and Volvo owners expect from a premium repair solution.

Installation Guide
Difficulty Level: Intermediate | Time: 1.5–2.5 hours
-
Prepare the engine: Allow the engine to cool to ambient temperature. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental electrical discharge during service.
-
Remove the valve cover: Unbolt the intake manifold cover and remove the top engine cover to access the valve cover assembly. Document bolt positions for reinstallation.
-
Drain residual oil: Place a drain pan beneath the valve cover. Carefully remove the old PCV valve and allow any trapped oil to drain completely.
-
Clean the valve cover mating surface: Use a gasket scraper and degreaser to remove all old sealant, carbon buildup, and debris from the valve cover housing. Wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.
-
Install new gasket and seals: Position the new gasket set from the kit onto the valve cover mating surface. Ensure the PCV valve opening is properly aligned with the service kit components.
-
Insert the new PCV valve: Carefully install the new PCV valve assembly into the valve cover, ensuring it seats firmly and securely. Verify no gaps or misalignment.
-
Reinstall the valve cover: Place the updated valve cover assembly back onto the engine block. Tighten fasteners in a star pattern to the OE torque specification (typically 8–10 Nm). Do not over-tighten.
-
Reconnect systems: Reattach all hoses, connectors, and intake manifold covers. Verify all connections are secure and properly routed.
-
Test and verify: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine and listen for abnormal sounds. Check for oil leaks around the valve cover and PCV connections for 10 minutes of idle operation.
⚠️ Important: Do not operate the engine if any component feels loose or if oil leakage is detected. Allow the engine to cool completely before tightening fasteners further. Improper installation may result in crankcase pressure buildup, which can damage seals and gaskets.
