- Begin with the vehicle off and the cabin at ambient temperature. If your car has been parked in cold conditions, allow it to warm slightly — adhesive bonds more reliably above 15°C.
- Clean the existing gear shift knob surround thoroughly using an isopropyl alcohol wipe or a dry microfibre cloth. Remove any dust, grease, or polish residue and allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the woodgrain trim cover over the gear selector surround without removing the adhesive backing. Confirm alignment and note the correct orientation before committing.
- Peel the adhesive backing carefully from the trim piece. Avoid touching the adhesive surface with your fingers.
- Align the trim precisely and press it firmly into position, working from the centre outward. Apply steady pressure across the full surface for 20–30 seconds to activate the adhesive bond.
- Allow a minimum of one hour before normal use. The adhesive continues to cure and strengthen over the first 24 hours — avoid any forceful contact with the trim during this period.
⚠ Note: Do not attempt installation on a dashboard or trim surface that has been recently treated with silicone-based dressings or conditioning products. These coatings significantly reduce adhesive performance. If in doubt, clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before fitting.
