Windshield Washer Fluid Low Level Sensor – L405 / L494 / L550

OEM-spec washer fluid level monitoring for Range Rover and Discovery models. Precise sensor ensures your warning lights stay accurate.

Direct Fit 2013–2020 OEM Spec Plug & Play 6-Month Warranty

Overview

If your Range Rover Vogue L405 (2013–2020), Range Rover Sport L494 (2013–2020), or Discovery L550 (2017–) is showing false washer fluid warnings or has stopped monitoring levels entirely, a failed low-level sensor is almost certainly the culprit. The windshield washer system depends on this single component to detect fluid depletion and trigger your dashboard alert—when it fails, you lose that critical feedback loop.

This OEM-specification sensor restores full system function with no modifications required. It's engineered to the exact electrical and mechanical tolerances Land Rover uses in factory builds, meaning fitment is seamless and performance is immediate. Your warning lights will respond correctly again, and you'll have full visibility into washer fluid status.

Installation is straightforward—typically a 10-minute job requiring basic hand tools. Partsmost manufacture ensures durability and long-term reliability, backed by our 30-day money-back guarantee and 6-month warranty.

Installation Notes

Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10 minutes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal – safety first. Wait 5 minutes before proceeding.
  2. Locate the washer fluid reservoir – typically under the rear wheelarch liner (varies by model; consult fitment guide).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the old sensor by depressing the retaining clip gently.
  4. Unscrew the sensor using a 26mm socket or adjustable wrench. Turn counterclockwise until fully released.
  5. Inspect the reservoir threads for debris. Clean gently with a dry cloth if needed.
  6. Insert the new sensor into the reservoir opening and hand-tighten first, then use the socket to secure. Torque to 18–22 Nm (do not over-tighten).
  7. Reconnect the electrical connector – listen for a soft click, confirming full seating.
  8. Reconnect the battery terminal and start the engine. Your dashboard warning light should respond immediately to fluid levels.
  9. Test the system – top off washer fluid if low, then run a spray cycle to confirm operation.
⚠️ Important: Do not over-torque the sensor – the plastic threads in the reservoir can strip easily. Hand-tight plus a quarter-turn with the socket is sufficient. If you encounter resistance, stop and inspect for cross-threading.
