Installation Notes
⏱ Estimated Time: 45–90 minutes | 🔧 Difficulty: Intermediate
- Confirm your vehicle has an NBT or NBT Evo head unit by checking the iDrive system menu or VIN decoder before beginning.
- Disconnect the vehicle battery negative terminal and allow the iDrive system to fully power down.
- Remove the centre console trim and glovebox panels as required to access the rear of the iDrive head unit — refer to your vehicle's service manual for panel removal sequences.
- Locate the LVDS and USB/power harness connectors on the rear of the NBT unit and connect the supplied adapter harness in-line using the included installation kit.
- Mount the adapter box in a suitable location behind the dash using the provided brackets, ensuring clearance from heat sources and moving components.
- Reconnect the battery, power on the vehicle and follow the on-screen pairing wizard to connect your iPhone via Bluetooth for wireless CarPlay activation.
- Verify all functions — CarPlay, mirroring, camera input and audio — before refitting all trim panels.
⚠ Important: Verify your exact head unit variant (NBT vs NBT Evo) prior to installation — connector pinouts differ between generations. If in doubt, consult a qualified BMW technician. Incorrect connection may cause iDrive system faults.
