- Disconnect the vehicle battery and allow a minimum of 10 minutes for the airbag capacitor to fully discharge before beginning work.
- Using the appropriate Torx bits, carefully remove the airbag module from the steering wheel centre. Set aside in a safe, flat location — do not expose to impact or static discharge.
- Disconnect all steering wheel control wiring harnesses, labelling each connector for reassembly reference.
- Remove the factory steering wheel insert from its retention points. Note orientation before removal.
- Align the carbon fibre replacement insert, ensuring all clip points and contours seat correctly against the steering wheel frame.
- Press firmly until all retention clips engage with an audible click. Verify there is no movement or gap around the perimeter.
- Reconnect all wiring harnesses, refit the airbag module, and torque fasteners to manufacturer specification.
- Reconnect the battery and confirm all steering wheel controls and airbag warning lights are functioning correctly before driving.
