Installation

Drain coolant: Remove the lower radiator hose and drain coolant into a clean catch pan. Dispose of or recycle responsibly.

Remove the old thermostat: Unbolt the thermostat housing from the engine block (typically 2–3 bolts). Carefully pry away the old housing and gasket. Clean the mounting surface with a lint-free cloth.

Install the new assembly: Position the new thermostat housing with integrated gasket onto the block. Hand-tighten all bolts, then torque to 20–25 Nm in a cross pattern.

Reconnect coolant lines: Reattach the lower radiator hose and any auxiliary coolant hoses to the housing. Ensure all jubilee clips are secure.

Bleed the system: Refill the coolant reservoir to the MAX line using Land Rover / Jaguar OEM coolant (typically Dexcool or similar). Open the bleed screw and run the engine at idle until coolant flows steadily with no air bubbles. Close the bleed screw, then run for 5 minutes at 2,000 rpm to purge air.

Final check: Kill the engine, allow it to cool, top up the reservoir, and check for leaks around the housing and hose connections over the next 24 hours.
