Installation

Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Wait 5 minutes for the ECU to clear residual power.

Locate the crankshaft position sensor. It sits on the crankshaft pulley housing at the front of the engine block, beneath the auxiliary belt.

Unplug the sensor connector by gently depressing the retaining clip and withdrawing the plug.

Unbolt the sensor body using a 10mm socket (typically one M8 bolt). Do not force – if stuck, apply penetrating oil and wait 10 minutes.

Remove the old sensor and inspect the mounting surface for debris or corrosion. Clean with a dry cloth.

Install the new sensor and hand-tighten the bolt first, then torque to 8–12 Nm (6–9 ft·lb). Do not over-tighten.

Reconnect the electrical connector firmly until the clip clicks into place. Verify a clean, dry connection.

Reconnect the battery negative terminal and start the engine. The check-engine light should clear within 5–10 seconds of normal idle.
⚠ Important: Ensure the ignition is off and the engine is cold before beginning. Do not bend or force the sensor connector – use gentle, steady pressure. If you see any fluid leaks or oil on the connector after removal, the engine block seal may need attention; contact a qualified mechanic.
