Overview
The cooling system in your Land Rover Freelander 2, Range Rover Evoque, or Discovery Sport relies on critical circulation patterns to maintain optimal operating temperature. The bypass hose is the conduit connecting your thermostat housing directly to the water pump—a passage that manages coolant flow during warm-up cycles and steady running.
This is an OEM-spec bypass hose (Partsmost manufacture, original equipment matching) with part numbers LR001311 and AJ811151. It's engineered to exact factory specifications, ensuring seamless integration with your 2.2L turbo diesel engine's cooling circuit. Unlike generic hoses, this component maintains precise inner diameter tolerances and is resistant to diesel-engine heat and pressure cycles.
If your bypass hose shows signs of weeping, deterioration, or coolant leakage around the thermostat area, replacement is urgent—a compromised hose can trigger air pockets in the system, erratic temperature gauges, and thermal stress on the engine. This new hose restores reliability and protects your investment.

Verify before purchase: Confirm your engine is a 2.2L turbo diesel. Petrol models use different hose routes. If unsure, provide your VIN or vehicle registration; we'll confirm fitment free of charge.
Installation Notes
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30–45 minutes
-
Disconnect battery negative terminal and allow engine to cool fully (at least 2 hours after last running).
-
Drain coolant partially into a clean container. You'll lose roughly 1–1.5L when removing the hose. Save it for refilling if it's fresh.
-
Locate the thermostat housing on top of the engine (driver's side, adjacent to the cylinder head).
-
Remove hose clamps at both thermostat and water pump connections using a hose clamp tool or screwdriver. Note clamp orientation.
-
Carefully twist and slide off the old hose. Some seizing is normal; gentle pressure prevents cracking connection ports.
-
Inspect connection ports for debris or corrosion. Wipe clean with a lint-free cloth if needed.
-
Dry-fit the new hose to confirm alignment. It should sit without forcing.
-
Slide the new hose onto both connections and secure with original or new clamps. Tighten firmly but not excessively (hand-tight plus a quarter turn).
-
Refill coolant to the cold-fill line. Bleed air by running the engine on idle for 5 minutes with the expansion tank cap loose.
-
Check for leaks at both hose connections under idle and light load. Let sit for 10 minutes, then inspect again.
-
Reconnect battery and clear any fault codes if they appear.
⚠ Important: Never remove the hose from a hot engine—coolant spray can cause serious burns. Wear safety glasses. If coolant level drops after a few days, inspect connections and hose for pinhole leaks. Do not ignore drips; a failed bypass hose can overheat the engine rapidly.
