Installation Notes
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 2–3 Hours
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow the engine to cool completely.
- Remove the serpentine belt, alternator, and air intake assembly to access the timing cover.
- Remove the front timing cover bolts and carefully lift off the cover, noting the gasket condition.
- Align the crankshaft and camshaft markers to TDC (top dead center) using a timing pin or marker alignment.
- Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and slide the old timing belt off the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
- Install the new DAYCO timing belt, ensuring all teeth fully engage with each sprocket.
- Install the new front pulley and secure with the OEM bolt (OE quality kit only), torquing to 85 Nm.
- Verify camshaft and crankshaft alignment marks are still aligned before reassembly.
- Replace the timing cover gasket with a new OEM gasket and reinstall the cover.
- Reinstall the alternator, serpentine belt, and air intake assembly.
- Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and verify smooth idle and no fault codes.
- Road test for 10–15 minutes and recheck for leaks or abnormal noise.
