Overview
If you own a Land Rover Discovery LR4, Range Rover Full Size, or Range Rover Sport with the 5.0L V8 petrol engine, your drive belts are among the hardest-working components under the bonnet. These serpentine belts drive alternator, water pump, power steering, and air conditioning—simultaneously. When a belt begins to slip, fray, or crack, everything downstream suffers: electrical charging drops, coolant circulation weakens, and cabin comfort vanishes.
This Partsmost belt kit delivers direct-fit replacements engineered to OEM specification. You get a primary serpentine belt (LR064185) and secondary belt (LR012663)—the exact same units your vehicle shipped with. Installation is straightforward, and the performance gain is immediate: whisper-quiet operation, confident power steering response, and ice-cold A/C again.
Whether you're at 80,000 miles or 150,000, belt replacement is preventative maintenance that costs a fraction of the alternative. Keep your V8 running like factory-new.

Installation
Difficulty: Moderate | Time: 1–2 hours
-
Safety First: Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Allow engine to cool for 15–20 minutes.
-
Remove Trim & Guards: Detach plastic splash guards and trim pieces providing access to the belt runs. Mark their location with tape.
-
Locate Tensioner Pulley: Identify the serpentine belt tensioner (spring-loaded arm) on the driver side of the engine bay. This is your starting point.
-
Release Tension: Using a breaker bar, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise (relaxing spring pressure) and slide the old belt off all pulleys. Note the routing diagram on your fan shroud or owner's manual.
-
Inspect Pulleys: Check all pulleys—alternator, water pump, crank, power steering, A/C—for wear, cracks, or uneven wear patterns. Replace any damaged pulleys before installing new belts.
-
Install Primary Belt: Begin at the crank pulley. Route the new serpentine belt following the diagram, passing over alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and A/C compressor. Carefully thread it around each pulley.
-
Tension & Secure: Once fully seated, use the breaker bar to rotate the tensioner arm counterclockwise again, sliding the belt into the tensioner pulley. Release slowly; the spring should auto-tension the belt. If equipped with a manual tensioner bolt, tighten to factory spec (typically 25–35 Nm).
-
Install Secondary Belt: Repeat steps 4–7 for the auxiliary/secondary belt (LR012663), following its separate routing diagram.
-
Spin by Hand: Manually rotate the engine 3–4 full rotations (via crank bolt) to ensure belts track straight, don't slip, and clear all surrounds. Listen for rubbing or grinding.
-
Reconnect Battery & Test: Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and listen for 30 seconds. Belt noise should be minimal or absent. If chirping or squealing persists, recheck tension and pulley alignment.
-
Reattach Guards & Trim: Replace all plastic shrouding and trim in reverse order.
-
Final Check: Allow 5 minutes of idle running. Check alternator output (battery voltage should hold 13.5–14.5V). Confirm A/C and power steering are responsive.
⚠️ Belt Tension: Over-tightening causes premature bearing wear and pulley damage. Under-tensioning causes slippage and squealing. If unsure, consult a professional technician or use a belt tension gauge (typically 50–60 kg-force for serpentine drives).
