Installation Notes
Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45–90 minutes
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental electrical activation.
- Allow the engine to cool to ambient temperature (at least 2 hours post-drive).
- Remove breather hoses and any wiring harnesses connected to the valve cover.
- Unbolt the old cover using a 10mm socket and carefully lift away. Discard the old gasket.
- Clean the cylinder head sealing surface with a lint-free cloth and IPA. Remove all traces of old gasket material.
- Position the new gasket onto the cylinder head mounting surface.
- Align the new valve cover and hand-tighten all fasteners in a circular pattern (not corner-to-corner).
- Torque bolts to 5–7 Nm (3.7–5.2 ft-lb) in the same circular sequence. Do not over-torque—aluminium can crack.
- Reinstall all hoses and wiring, ensuring clips sit properly.
- Reconnect the battery terminal and start the engine. Inspect for leaks at idle for 2–3 minutes.
⚠ Critical: Engine must be fully cool before removal. Working on a hot engine risks burns and thermal shock to the aluminium cover. If you are not comfortable with mechanical work, have a qualified technician perform this service.
